About the performance piece: On stage is a 14 foot tall red chair that serves as a metaphor for what we might call home; it stands for what is deeply rooted and steady, for dreams, hopes and aspirations, larger than life goals. The chair is an abstract meeting ground and a fortress. It can transport us to wherever we wish to go. In TERRA NULLIUS, which translates from Latin to 'no man's land', the dancer is the point of interest; we take a personal look at the concept of 'home' and the psychology behind it. We explore and question the relevance of having a home or leaving our home. What separates us, what unites us as people or as individuals? We, as humans, are by nature 'self centered'; in other words: our perception is uniquely our own. 'TERRA NULLIUS' explores the experiences of others, and tries to bring them a bit closer into your world, … our world.
